The global scenario for corn is tight. However, producers of corn in the southern and northern hemisphere are expecting a good supply of corn. The biggest question is whether US will retain its position as the world´s largest producer of corn. Overall, the total production of grain seeds will be higher than average. On the contrary, the winter wheat plantings for the coming season is raising a big concern about the 2013-2014 season. There are some downward revisions for grain crops in Argentina and Brazil which are off-set by upward revisions for the harvests in the EU, Canada and China.

Tesco has raised its milk price by 4% to compensate UK farmers for higher feed prices and lower volumes.

Lactalis gets the green signal to take over Slovenia’s leading dairy Ljubljanske Mlekarne. Brazil faces lower output higher milk prices.

Guenter Tissen, Chief Executive of Germany’s Sugar Industry association WVZ has confirmed reduction in refined sugar output to around 4.4 million tonnes this year, amounting to a fall of 0.3MT compared to the previous season.
